Without actually realising, the girls are finally sleeping through. It's strange in that for 21 months we were counting consecutive sleep through. In that time their record was 5 nights (once) and 3 nights (3 times). It's astonishing how you can adapt to sleep deprivation. There we were in the first 6 month living off a few hours sleep a night. I proudly remember student weekend where I managed to stay in bed an entire weekend! In my first job I would regularly get out of bed at 8.40 and get to work for 9.15. These days I get up at 6am (and still get to work at 9.15!). Thing is I LOVE my sleep. With it I am so full of energy, without it I'm a right grumpy sod.
The other 'exciting' transformation in our lives is bed time. For quite a while we have been in bed, lights off at 10pm sometimes even earlier. We've recently stayed up as late as 11, once even 12!!!!!! This may sound stupid but we honestly have an extra couple of hours in our day.
No doubt Nanette will read this saying something like "yeah but I'm still knackered" which is true, even with the girls sleeping through 6am starts take it out of you. But compared to the darker days it's positively dreamy.
Towards the end of the year we'll take the side down from the cot beds which will present some interesting new challenges. A) one of the girls try to get into bed with m&d B) both girls try C) girls get into each others bed. Which ever way it will be funny for a while...
Anyway, we both have a rare few days on our own to celebrate our wedding anniversary soon. Lots of ZZZZZzzzz......
